In-Kind Donations

Bethesda Project annually serves over 1,200 individuals experiencing homelessness at 12 different locations across the city. By donating items, you help us ensure our guests and residents always have toiletries, clothing - anything they need. Your in-kind donations help us provide a welcoming environment at every site.

    • $25 Visa, Wawa, Target, or other gift cards for gifts for our guests and residents.

    • Adult-size backpacks.

    • Adult winter coats.

    • Cold weather outerwear.

    • Reusable plates bowls, cups, and silverware

    • Nitrile gloves

    • New or gently used jeans.

    • New men's boxers (Medium to 3XL).

    • Sweatpants (adult sizes large to 3XL).

    • Basketball/Gym shorts (adult sizes medium to 3XL).

    • LYFT gift cards for rides to appointments

    • Puzzle, word search and adult coloring books.

    • Universal phone chargers.

    • Earbuds with cords.

      • NEW pillows

      • NEW twin-sized sheets and blankets

      • Shower curtains and liners

      • Sterilite medium and large storage bins

      • NEW or gently used reusable plates, bowls, and cups. No glassware, please.

      • Purell surface wipes

      • NEW brooms

    • Personal hygiene products and PPE:

      • Washcloths and bath towels

      • Deodorant

      • Shaving Razors

      • Body Wash

      • Toothbrushes and Toothpaste

      • Tissues, Paper Towels, and toilet paper

    • Clothing:

      • NEW or gently used adult wallets and belts

      • NEW or gently used adult male casual clothing

      • NEW or gently used adult male shoes

      • NEW adult male underwear and socks. We do not accept used underwear or socks

    • Other:

      • SEPTA Keycards

      • Gift Cards used for BINGO

      • Earbud headphones with an aux cord

Important Info About Donations:

We so appreciate your interest in donating to Bethesda Project. Unfortunately, there are some items that we cannot accept. These include:

  • Women’s clothing (other than new underwear and socks). Consider giving to JFCS Our Closet, devon@communitystitch.org, or The Wardrobe.

  • USED home furniture or appliances, including: home, office, kitchen bedroom, and used mattresses.

  • USED underwear or socks.

  • MOST Home décor.

  • Already opened food made in home kitchens, including leftovers from large group gatherings.

    Sometimes, there are exceptions. Please always contact us about your donation to see if we can accept the item and to schedule a drop off time. Make an appointment with Community Life staff any time Monday – Friday 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Drop off is at Bethesda Project’s Our Brothers’ Place at 907 Hamilton Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123. Items on our Amazon wishlist not only include items currently needed at our sites, but also serve as contact-free delivery for you! When making an order, please follow directions at the top of the wish list to helps us ensure you receive a tax donation letter.
